To improve the ability of racial, ethnic and language minorities to influence system change through the use of effective leadership and advocacy skills.

To develop greater awareness, empathy and cultural competence regarding the immigrant experience among students and teachers by engaging them in a live play and follow-on classroom curriculum.

To promote health and equity and address health disparities in NH by developing the NH Health & Equity Partnership, focusing on strengthening partnerships through advancing leadership, enhancing knowledge, and fostering networking and collaboration.

To improve immigrant integration and advance health equity by providing the most current research, policy analysis and other resources necessary to effectively address the challenges facing newcomers and their host communities.

This research project uses a mixed-method approach to analyze the extent of racial/ethnic diversity in NH's healthcare workforce and the role of social networks in influencing employment and advancement opportunities; and will inform policy recommendations for employers, workforce development leaders, educational institutions and others.

Nursing Quest Summer Camps will offer camp experiences to minority campers and promote awareness of the nursing profession among youth from diverse cultures and ultimate expand diversity within the future nursing workforce.

To create a Center of Excellence for Culturally Effective Care (COECEC)within Manchester Community Health Center by
1-institutionalizing best and model practices of a culturally effective organization (language access, Race Ethnicity and Language (REaL) data , cultural competence, and workforce diversity),
2-creating capacity for leading and teaching quality improvement efforts to address health disparities,
3-and implementing a Community Health Worker (CHW) pilot project with a targeted cohort from two patient populations that experience a higher prevalence of health disparities.

To enhance the capacity of Manchester Community Health Center to serve as a Center of Excellence for Culturally Effective Care, by increasing 1) in-depth knowledge of root causes of health disparities and the current field of research, 2) understanding of cutting edge quality improvement strategies identifying and addressing disparities and 3) leadership skills to implement strategies to transform MCHC and other organizations.

To improve access to health and human services for Bhutanese women and to increase their representation in leadership positions in the community by engaging women in a participatory planning process and leadership development sessions.
