To sustain a system developed to prevent early childhood caries by assuring resident physicians provide oral health education, screening and flouride varnish within the context of the well child visit for children ages 0-3 years; and to prevent prematurebirths and provide additional protection against early childhood caries by training resident physicians to provide oral health screening at the routine prenatal physical examination and referral of those at risk to a prenatal referral dental clinic.
